వై విధ్యమైన కథలను ఎంచుకుంటూ తెలుగు చిత్ర పరిశ్రమలో మంచి గుర్తింపు తెచ్చుకున్న యువ కథానాయకుడు నాని (Nani). క్లాస్‌, మాస్‌, ఫ్యామిలీ ఆడియన్స్‌ ఆయన నటనను ఇష్టపడతారు. అందుకు తగినట్లుగానే నాని కథల ఎంపిక ఉంటుంది. ఇప్పుడు శ్రీరామనవమికి ‘దసరా’ (Dasara)తో ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చారు. నాని మాస్‌ లుక్‌లో దర్శనమివ్వడం, అతనికి జోడీగా కీర్తి సురేష్ (Keerthy Suresh) నటించడం, ప్రచార చిత్రాలు మెప్పించేలా ఉండటంతో సినిమాపై అంచనాలు పెరిగాయి. మరి ఆ అంచనాలను ‘దసరా’ అందుకుందా? క‌థేంటంటే?

సింగ‌రేణి స‌మీపంలో వీర్లపల్లి అనే ప్రాంతం చుట్టూ సాగే క‌థ ఇది. ధ‌ర‌ణి (నాని), సూరి (దీక్షిత్ శెట్టి), వెన్నెల (కీర్తి సురేశ్‌) చిన్నప్పటి నుంచి మంచి స్నేహితులు. సూరి కోసం త‌న ప్రేమ‌ని కూడా త్యాగం చేసిన‌వాడు ధ‌ర‌ణి. రైళ్లలో బొగ్గు దొంగ‌త‌నం చేయ‌డం.. తాగ‌డం స్నేహితులంతా క‌లసి తిర‌గ‌డం ఇదే వాళ్ల దిన‌చర్య. అయితే ఊరి స‌ర్పంచ్ ఎన్నిక‌లు వాళ్ల జీవితాల్ని ప్రభావితం చేస్తాయి. చిన్న నంబి (షైన్ టామ్ చాకో) పోటీ చేసిన ఆ ఎన్నిక‌ల్లో సూరి అత‌ని స్నేహ‌బృందం.. రాజ‌న్న (సాయికుమార్‌)కి మద్దతుగా నిలిచి గెలిపించాక ఊళ్లో తీవ్ర సంఘ‌ట‌న‌లు చోటుచేసుకుంటాయి. ఆ ప‌రిణామాలు ఎలాంటివి? ముగ్గురు స్నేహితుల జీవితాలు ఏ తోవ ప‌ట్టాయ‌నేది మిగ‌తా క‌థ‌. (Dasara Movie Review)

ఎలా ఉందంటే?

మ‌న‌వైన మూలాల్లోకి వెళ్లి ఆ జీవితాల్ని, క‌థ‌ల్ని స‌హ‌జంగా తెర‌పై ఆవిష్కరిస్తున్న ట్రెండ్ ఇది. ‘ద‌స‌రా’ తెలంగాణలోని సింగ‌రేణి బొగ్గు గ‌నుల స‌మీపంలోని వీర్లపల్లి క‌థ‌ని, అందులోని కొన్ని జీవితాల్ని చూపిస్తుంది. క‌థ కంటే నేపథ్యమే ప్రేక్షకులకు కొత్తదనాన్ని పంచుతుంది అని చెప్పొచ్చు. కొత్త క‌థేమీ కాదు కానీ... పాత్రలతో స‌హా కొన్ని విషయాలు ‘రంగస్థలం’ మొద‌లుకొని ఇదివ‌ర‌కు వ‌చ్చిన వివిధ సినిమాల్ని గుర్తు చేస్తాయి. స్నేహం, ప్రేమ‌, త్యాగాల నేప‌థ్యంలో మంచి భావోద్వేగాల్నే రాబ‌ట్టే ప్రయత్నం చేశాడు దర్శకుడు. ఆ ఊరిని, పెద్దల్ని, రాజ‌కీయాల్ని ప‌రిచ‌యం చేస్తూ సాగే  ఆరంభ స‌న్నివేశాలు ప్రభావం చూపించ‌క‌పోయినా... నాని ప‌రిచ‌యం నుంచే క‌థ‌లో వేగం పెరుగుతుంది. బొగ్గుని దొంగ‌త‌నం చేసే ఎపిసోడ్ ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. ఆ త‌ర్వాత క్రమంగా స్నేహాన్ని, ప్రేమ‌ను ఎస్టాబ్లిష్ చేస్తూ ప‌ట్టు ప్రదర్శించారు దర్శకుడు.

ఎన్నిక‌ల్లో చిన్ననంబి పోటీ చేయ‌డం... యువ‌త‌రం మ‌ధ్య క్రికెట్ పోటీలు పెట్టడం, బార్ అకౌంటెంట్ పోస్ట్‌, వెన్నెల పెళ్లి చుట్టూ సాగే స‌న్నివేశాలు ప్రేక్షకుల్ని ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. ఆ స‌న్నివేశాల‌న్నీ ఒక ఎత్తు అయితే.. విరామానికి ముందు వచ్చే స‌న్నివేశాలు మ‌రో ఎత్తు. సినిమాను మ‌రో మ‌లుపు తిప్పే ఆ ఎపిసోడ్ ద్వితీయార్థంపై ఆస‌క్తిని పెంచుతుంది. అయితే రెండో స‌గ‌భాగం క‌థ‌లో ధ‌ర‌ణి, వెన్నెల పాత్రల మ‌ధ్య మ‌రింత డ్రామా, సంఘర్షణ పండించేందుకు ఆస్కారం ఉన్నప్పటికీ స‌న్నివేశాల్ని ప్రతీకారం కోణంలోనే  మ‌లిచారు దర్శకుడు. ప్రథమార్ధంపై ప్రభావం చూపించిన రాజ‌కీయ కోణం... ద్వితీయార్ధంలో ఏమాత్రం క‌నిపించ‌దు. దాంతో క‌థ‌, క‌థ‌నాలు ప్రేక్షకుడి ఊహకు తగ్గట్టే సాగుతాయి. ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాలు ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటాయి. హీరోయిజాన్ని మ‌రో స్థాయిలో చూపించారు ఆ సన్నివేశాల్లో. చివ‌రి స‌న్నివేశమైతే మ‌రింత హైలైట్‌. మొత్తంగా ప‌క్కా నాటుద‌నంతో కూడిన తెలంగాణలోని ఓ ప‌ల్లెటూరి క‌థ ఇది. (Dasara Movie Review)

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే?

ధ‌ర‌ణి పాత్రలో నాని ఒదిగిపోయాడు. ఆయ‌న న‌ట‌న సినిమాను మ‌రో స్థాయిలో నిల‌బెట్టింది. మ‌న‌సులో సంఘర్షణకు గుర‌వుతూనే స్నేహానికి ప్రాణ‌మిచ్చే యువ‌కుడిగా నాని అభిన‌యం హ‌త్తుకుంటుంది. సూరి, వెన్నెలగా న‌టించిన దీక్షిత్‌, కీర్తి సురేశ్‌... ఆ పాత్రలకు ప్రాణం పోశారు. కీర్తి సురేశ్ స‌హ‌జంగా క‌నిపించారు. ‘మ‌హాన‌టి’ స్థాయిలో ఆమె అభిన‌యం సాగుతుంది. చిన్న నంబిగా మ‌ల‌యాళ న‌టుడు షైన్ టామ్ చాకో చూపుల‌తోనే భ‌య‌పెట్టారు. సముద్రఖ‌నిని కొత్త గెట‌ప్‌లో చూపించిన‌ప్పటికీ ఆయ‌న పాత్రకి పెద్దగా ప్రాధాన్యం లేదు. ఊరి పెద్ద రాజన్నగా సాయికుమార్ పాత్రకి త‌గ్గస్థాయిలో నటించారు.

జ‌రీనా వ‌హాబ్, ఝాన్సీ త‌దిత‌రులు తమ పాత్రల్లో ఒదిగిపోయారు. సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా ఉన్నతంగా ఉంది. వీర్లపల్లిని సత్యన్‌ సూర్యన్‌ త‌న కెమెరాతో ఓ క‌థ‌లాగే చూపించారు. పాట‌లతోపాటు నేప‌థ్య సంగీతంతో సినిమాపై త‌న‌దైన ముద్రవేశారు సంతోష్ నారాయ‌ణ‌న్. ‘ధూమ్ ధామ్..’, ‘చ‌మ్కీల అంగీలేసి...’ పాటల చిత్రీక‌ర‌ణ బాగుంది. ఎడిటింగ్‌, క‌ళ విభాగాల ప‌నితీరు సినిమాపై ప్రభావం చూపించింది. దర్శకుడు శ్రీకాంత్ ఓదెల‌కి ఇదే తొలి చిత్రమైనా చాలా స‌న్నివేశాల్ని అనుభ‌వ‌మున్న దర్శకుడిలా తీర్చిదిద్దారు. మాట‌లు బాగున్నాయి. నిర్మాణం ఉన్నతంగా ఉంది. (Dasara Movie Review)

న్యాచురల్ స్టార్ మూవీ అంటేనే కుటుంబ ప్రేక్షకులో ప్రత్యేకమైన ఆసక్తి నెలకొంటుంది. అన్ని వర్గాలను మెప్పించేలా కథలను ఎంచుకుంటూ వచ్చిన నాని మొదటిసారి ఊర మాస్ నేపథ్యం ఎంచుకోవడం దసరా పట్ల ఈ స్థాయి హైప్ ని తీసుకొచ్చింది. పోస్టర్లతో మొదలుపెట్టి ప్రమోషన్ల దాకా టీమ్ తీసుకున్న శ్రద్ధ వల్ల ఇందులో బలమైన కంటెంట్ ఉందనే సందేశం జనానికి వెళ్లిపోయింది. క్యాస్టింగ్ కి తోడు భారీ బడ్జెట్ కళ్ళకు కట్టినట్టు ట్రైలర్ లోనే కనిపించేసింది. ఇంతకీ దసరా టైటిల్ కు తగ్గట్టు పండగలా ఉందా.

తొంభై దశకం నేపథ్యంలో కథ సాగుతుంది. తెలంగాణ ప్రాంతంలోని వీర్లపల్లి అనే ఊరి జనానికి బొగ్గు గనులు, మద్యపానం ఇవే జీవితం. ధరణి(నాని) సూరి(దీక్షిత్ శెట్టి) వెన్నెల(కీర్తి సురేష్) చిన్ననాటి నుంచే ప్రాణ స్నేహితులు. ధరణి మనసు పారేసుకున్న వెన్నెల అనూహ్యంగా సూరిని ఇష్టపడుతుంది. శివన్న(సముతిరఖని), రాజన్న(సాయికుమార్) రాజకీయం వల్ల వీళ్ళ జీవితాల్లో అనూహ్య మార్పులు వస్తాయి. ఊహించని సంఘటనల నడుమ ధరణి లక్ష్యం హింసాత్మకంగా మారిపోతుంది. తర్వాత జరిగేదే అసలు స్టోరీ.

సహజత్వం కూడిన ఇలాంటి రా విలేజ్ డ్రామాల్లో కమర్షియల్ ఫ్లేవర్ ని జోడించడం చాలా కష్టం. అందులోనూ ఇమేజ్ ఉన్న హీరోతో చేస్తున్నప్పుడు ఎన్నో అడ్డంకులు ఉంటాయి. అందుకే మేకర్స్ వీటి జోలికి వెళ్లేందుకు ఎక్కువ ఇష్టపడరు. అయితే రంగస్థలంతో ఈ భ్రమను బ్రేక్ చేసిన క్రెడిట్ సుకుమార్ కు దక్కుతుంది. ఒక నిజాయితీ ప్రయత్నాన్ని బలమైన టేకింగ్ తో చూపించినప్పుడు హీరో హీరోయిన్ కవ్వింపు పాటలు, ఐటెం సాంగులు పెట్టినా పాస్ అవ్వొచ్చని నిరూపించారు. ఆయన శిష్యుడే కాబట్టి దసరా విషయంలో శ్రీకాంత్ ఓదెల తన డెబ్యూతోనే పెద్ద రిస్క్ కు సిద్ధపడ్డాడు. అసలు నానిని ధరణిగా ఊహించుకోవడమే ఒక సవాల్ లాంటిది.

దసరా సెటప్ ని రిజిస్టర్ చేసేందుకు తగినంత సమయం తీసుకున్న శ్రీకాంత్ ఈ క్రమంలో కొంత నెమ్మదిగా వెళ్లినా పలు ఇంటర్వ్యూలలో చెప్పినట్టు ఏదీ బలవంతంగా ఇరికించే ప్రయత్నం చేయలేదు. రాసుకున్న సబ్జెక్టుకే కట్టుబడ్డాడు. ముందు ప్రధాన పాత్రల మధ్య స్నేహం, ఆ తర్వాత ముక్కోణపు ప్రేమతో మొదలుపెట్టి, క్రమంగా దానికి పొలిటికల్ కలర్ అద్ది రివెంజ్ డ్రామా వైపు మలుపు తిప్పడం మంచి ఆలోచన. ఇంటెన్స్ డ్రామాకు సరిపడా ముడిపాయింట్ ని శ్రీకాంత్ ఓదెల సరిగ్గా రాసుకున్నాడు. దాన్నే రియలిస్టిక్ డ్రామాగా ప్రెజెంట్ చేయాలని తాపత్రయపడ్డాడు. ఇందులో చాలా మటుకు విజయవంతం అయ్యాడు కూడా.

నిజానికి శ్రీకాంత్ పురాణాలను ప్రత్యేకించి రామాయణాన్ని స్ఫూర్తిగా తీసుకోవడం టైటిల్ తో మొదలుపెట్టి క్లైమాక్స్ లో రావణ దహనం దాకా స్పష్టంగా కనిపిస్తుంది. పరస్త్రీ మీద వ్యామోహపడటం వల్ల అన్ని సుగుణాలున్న రావణుడు చివరికి చరిత్రలో చెడ్డవాడిగా మిగిలాడు. అదే కాంక్ష ఒక దుష్టుడిలో కలిగితే జరిగే దారుణం ఏ స్థాయిలో ఉంటుందో చూపించే చిత్రమే దసరా. కాకపోతే వైవిధ్యం ఉండాలనే ఉద్దేశంతో మలయాళ నటుడిని మెయిన్ విలన్ గా తీసుకొచ్చిన శ్రీకాంత్ ఓదెల అతన్నుంచి ఆ స్థాయి అవుట్ ఫుట్ ని రాబట్టుకోలేకపోయాడు. ఉదాహరణకు వర్షం – జయం – నిజంలో గోపిచంద్ రేంజ్ ఆర్టిస్టు అయితేనే దీనికి న్యాయం జరిగేది.

ఇంటర్వెల్ దాకా ఒక టోన్ లో నడిపించిన దర్శకుడు విశ్రాంతి దగ్గర షాకింగ్ ట్విస్టు రివీల్ అయ్యాక ఎక్కువ ఎమోషన్ మీద దృష్టి పెట్టడంతో ఒక అరగంట నెమ్మదిగా సాగుతున్న ఫీలింగ్ కలుగుతుంది. ధరణి, వెన్నెల మధ్య భావోద్వేగాల కోసం అంత సమయం అవసరం లేదు. వాళ్ళ బంధాన్ని ప్రేక్షకులు అపార్థం చేసుకునే అవకాశం లేనప్పుడు అంత విడమరిచి చెప్పాల్సిన అవసరం లేదు. వీళ్ళ ప్రేమ కన్నా ధరణి ఎలా ప్రతీకారం తీర్చుకుంటాడనే దాని మీదే ఆడియన్స్ దృష్టి ఉంటుంది కాబట్టి వీలైనంత వేగంగా యాక్షన్ తో పరుగులు పెట్టించాలి. ఇక్కడ కొంచెం తడబాటు జరిగింది. పైగా అంతగా అవసరం అనిపించని పాటలు సైతం బ్రేక్ వేశాయి.

ఇదంతా రెండో సగంలో గ్రాఫ్ పరంగా కొంచెం అప్ అండ్ డౌన్ అయినప్పటికీ క్లైమాక్స్ లో తారాస్థాయికి తీసుకెళ్లే ఎలివేషన్ తో చివరి ఘట్టాన్ని ముగించడం మాస్ కి గూస్ బంప్స్ ఇస్తుంది. తగలబడుతున్న రావణుడి బొమ్మ ముందు హీరో అతని స్నేహితులు కలిసి విలన్ గ్యాంగ్ ఊచకోత చేసే సన్నివేశం అద్భుతంగా పేలింది. ఇక్కడ ప్రతినాయకుడి ప్రెజెంటేషన్ పరంగా కాస్త డమ్మీగా అనిపించినా అతన్ని లక్ష్యంగా పెట్టుకున్న ధరణి చూపించే విశ్వరూపం అప్పటిదాకా ఫీలైన కొన్ని మైనస్సులను కవర్ చేసేసింది. కాకపోతే ఇంత పచ్చిగా ఉన్న ఒక పల్లెటూరి నేపధ్యాన్ని ఫ్యామిలీ జనాలు ఎంతమేరకు రిసీవ్ చేసుకుంటారనేది కొంత వేచి చూడాల్సి రావొచ్చు

Dasara Movie Review: Raw and Rustic

Nani had never spoken so confidently about a film or toured across India to promote it before 'Dasara.' The film has received a lot of attention in recent weeks. Nani's promotion of the film gave the impression that it would be a major milestone. Is it really that good?

Let us look into it.

Story: Set in the 1990s in a village called Veerlapally in the Singareni coal mine area, the film begins with the story of three childhood friends, Dharani (Nani), Soori (Deekshith Shetty), and Vennela (Keerthy Suresh).

The villagers are always drinking and spend most of their time at Silk bar. Local politics between Rajanna (Saikumar), Shivanna(Samuthirakani) and the latter's son Chinna Nambi (Shine Tom Chacko) threaten to disrupt their lives.

What effect does a political leader's game plan have on the lives of the three friends?

Artistes’ Performances: For this film, Nani reinvented himself. He played a rustic character for the first time, which was unlike any of his previous roles. He sinks into the role and delivers an amazing outcome. The effort he has put in for the role is evident throughout, and he is the film's main pillar.

The award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh delivers another believable performance in the author-backed role. She is the central character around whom the plot revolves.

Deekshith Shetty, who plays the hero's friend, gives an effective performance. Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has also given a good performance. There are many actors, but none of them receive adequate recognition.

Technical Excellence: The film's cinematography is the first thing that stands out because the film is entirely set in a coal mine. The dark color palette of the color scheme works so well with Sooryan's imaginative camera work.

The music by Santosh Narayanan yields mixed results. The production design is flawless, and the production values are excellent. The dialogues are neat.

Analysis "Dasara" makes its intentions clear from the start, with the hero entering the scene in a coal mine area and his friend assisting him. The scene establishes the story's theme of friendship, and gradually introduces the lives of the two friends, as well as the villagers addicted to alcohol in the coal mine area. It is also quickly established that the two friends are in love with the same girl, Keerthy Suresh. So, the first sections are predictable and move at a slow pace.

However, the film is more about creating atmosphere and focusing on characters than it is about plot. The design of the hero's character is impressive. He's timid and only gains courage when he consumes alcohol. And when he drinks, he loses control and can do whatever he wants. This characteristic trait of the protagonist is used so effectively in the later portions of the film, including the interval twist.

Additionally, there are cultural and social references that are properly established, such as women in Telangana performing Bhatukamma during the Dasara festival and Ravana's effigy being burnt on the festival day. The director effectively employs these cultural aspects in his storytelling.

If we take these elements out of the film, it becomes more or less a typical revenge drama. Srikanth Odela, the new director, has prioritized mood and visual palette over story.

The film's biggest surprise is the interval bang. The pre-interval chase sequence and the intermission bang are handled expertly, revealing the villain's true intentions at the start of the second half. As a consequence, the remainder becomes more predictable, and many sequences are bland. The running time is also too long, and the film definitely needs sharp editing.

Furthermore, the film, whether intentionally or unintentionally, attempts to follow the template of "Rangasthalam," but lacks the gripping screenplay that the Sukumar movie had. Caste politics are also mentioned in the film, but they are not properly established.

Additionally, the period (probably set in the 1990s) is shown as if it happened in the 60's or 70's, even though most villages had more modern facilities by the 1990s, even in remote coal mine areas.

Overall, "Dasara" is a regular revenge drama that relies more on visual style and grand making than the plot. It is watchable because of its ambition and Nani’s performance.

‘Dasara’ movie review: Nani, Keerthy Suresh lead this gritty, emotional ride

Srikanth odela makes an assured directorial debut with the telugu film ‘dasara’, exploring caste politics in a mainstream format, backed by good performances from the cast led by nani and keerthy suresh.

Dasara, written and directed by first-timer Srikanth Odela, ventures into a space that mainstream Telugu films do not often dare to. It tries to be a ‘massy’ Telugu film that explores the ugly caste politics in a semi-fictional story set in the coal-laden hamlet Veerlapally, Telangana, with earnestness, and achieves this balance reasonably well. One of Dasara’s highlights is a chilling pre-intermission episode. The three central characters — Dharani (Nani), Vennela (Keerthy Suresh) and Suri (Deekshit Shetty) — are integral to the happenings. There is no scope for the display of machismo or bravado. The fear-inducing episode made me wonder, briefly, if this was the real incident based on which Srikanth had written this semi-fictional story. 

First, to address the elephant in the room, Dasara is not a wannabe Pushpa or KGF . Rather, it tries to bring in the grittiness of Tamil films such as Jai Bhim, Asuran and Karnan , in its depiction of power equations.  Dasara is also in a zone similar to Rangasthalam , one of the few significant ‘massy’ Telugu films that explored caste dynamics in recent years.

It takes a while to warm up to the world of Dasara , where alcohol excess is a way of life, a way of escaping the travesty of the daily grind. For the men in the village, life revolves around the only bar named ‘Silk bar’. Srikanth tips his hat to the sultry Silk Smitha.

The bar is where the rules of power become evident. The upper caste men drink inside the bar while the others stay outside. A backstory of the conflicts within a powerful family, involving the characters played by Saikumar and Samuthirakani and later Shine Tom Chacko, forms the undercurrent for the power dynamics in the village. Srikanth places the three childhood friends Dharani, Suri and Vennela in this milieu. Their names aligning with the earth, sun and the moon are metaphors for their characters and relationships.

The film draws us into Veerlapally that is carefully built through its many characters, Avinash Kolla’s production design, cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan’s stunning frames in brown-black, earthy brownish-reds and the smart use of oil lanterns, along with Santhosh Narayanan’s rustic-meets-jazzy haunting musical score. Pay attention to the score in the cricket match that turns out to be a battle between the caste groups. Added to this, the rural Telangana dialect and the songs that mirror the region’s cultural ethos make the film all the more rooted.

As Suri and Vennela, Deekshith Shetty and Keerthy take centre stage, Nani stays in the background and the narrative is in no rush to push him to the fore. The bonding between the three is depicted beautifully, punctuated occasionally with humour. One of the earlier sequences in the police station helps to delineate the naivete of Dharani as opposed to the comparatively smarter approach by Suri.

Srikanth narrates the story of the hamlet as an insider, depicting how men are numbed by alcohol and why the fact that women voters outnumber men is actually not a reason to rejoice. Not yet. Once the power dynamics is displayed at full throttle, as expected, the underdog rises to hit back and fight for survival. When he etches his name on a sword, you cannot help but root for him.

In the latter half, a sudden shift in the relationship equation between two characters happens when you least expect it. Was it just a ‘mass’ moment to announce the arrival of a saviour? This comes after a tear-jerker sequence that seems plucked from some of the Tamil and Telugu movies of the 1990s. These are the portions in which the narrative wobbles a bit. But the narrative redeems itself in an endearing scene where Vennela questions if she has no say in her life decisions and the man, though his heart beats for her and he intended to protect her, apologises. 

The quiet, understated romance that follows, sets the tone for the final encounter that runs parallel to Ravana dahanam . The motive of the antagonist is a trope that we have often seen in cinema. However, it serves to draw a parallel to the battle between Ram and Ravana. 

Deekshit Shetty is a revelation as Suri and shows that he is an actor with immense potential. Dasara is no Mahanati for Keethy Suresh. Nevertheless, she is central to the drama and gives it her all. She portrays Vennela’s spring in the step as a young bride and later the quiet resignation to fate followed by resilience convincingly. Jhansi and the several supporting actors contribute by doing their parts well. The film ultimately belongs to Nani. In a completely de-glam part, watch him cower in fear and later in shame that he cannot think straight under the influence of alcohol. Several portions require him to convey his emotions with his body language and silence, and he is fantastic. In the final episode, he displays the rage of Dharani in full glory. 

Dasara is not perfect. A few tropes could have been smarter. But this is a film with a lot of heart and succeeds in hitting the sweet spot between a gritty drama and a ‘massy’ mainstream film.

Dasara Movie Review: A surprising reimagination of mass cinema

The coveted pan-India label is used loosely in Indian cinema, and culturally rooted stories that are infused with larger-than-life heroism seem to be the go-to themes for such films. Nani's Dasara had the potential to become the next big pan-Indian film originating from the Telugu states. In fact, it starts off as a compendium of multiple pan-India films. Veerlapalli, the hamlet Dasara is set in is abutted by coal mines and the thick layer of black dust everywhere takes you back to the mines of KGF. We see Dharani ( Nani) make a living with his friends by pilfering coal from moving trains, with his parkour jumps reminiscent of the action choreography in Pushpa. At the heart of Dasara is the jigri dosti of Soori (Dheekshith Shetty) and Dharani and there are no points for guessing which recent successful Telugu film comes to mind when we talk of male friendship. However, what makes Dasara a film that truly expands the definitions of what passes off as a pan-India film is director Srikanth Odela's unique and rousing voice that ensures the film assuredly dodges comparisons. There are a lot of 'a-ha, I got you!' moments in the film that makes us smile thinking of how quick we were to judge Dasara as just a byproduct of the successes of a KGF/RRR/Pushpa/Kantara , and not as a highly effective, and deeply engrossing mass entertainer that is its own beast.

Director - Srikanth Odela Cast - Nani, Keerthy Suresh, Dheekshith Shetty, Shine Tom Chacko Alcohol is the primary leitmotif of Dasara’s first half, which is used to establish the caste and power dynamics of Veerlapally. We see how the stronghold of Shivanna (a buck-toothed Samuthirakani) shifts to Rajanna (Sai Kumar), creating a ripple effect in the lives of Dharani, Soori, and Vennela (Keerthy Suresh). It is beautiful how Dharani, Soori, and Vennela form a subversive love triangle, which has a refreshing eschewal of jealousy that paves the way for a tender gaze on male vulnerability. Srikanth Odela’s vision finds a perfect match in Nani’s acting prowess, as the actor lays his heart bare in scene after scene to heartbreaking effect. This vulnerability is used as a platform from which the film makes giant strides in the second half where the plot steadily burgeons into mythical proportions, which is kickstarted by a bone-chilling interval banger that injects adrenaline into the proceedings and gives Dasara a new sense of urgency. Dasara , at its core, is the coming-of-age story of Dharani, who suffers a personal tragedy before taking up the cudgels for a righteous fight. Unlike the usual big-ticket revenge sagas, where rage and violence are de rigueur, Dasara actually makes way for a debate on the necessity of violence. Though the film quickly resumes the originally scheduled plan of bloodshed, it was an interesting detour nonetheless. Srikanth shows glimpses of being a filmmaker who wants to reinvent masala cinema, and he starts off by changing the way the genre generally treats its women. Keerthy Suresh gets a great role, of a woman who goes from being confident and sassy to one coming to grips with a tragedy. Poorna, who plays the role of Chinna Nambi’s wife is an interesting casting choice as she makes an impact despite her limited presence. But the same can't be said of Shine Tom Chacko, who isn't supported by the writing, which gives him poorly dubbed, expository lines that only make him less scary with every line. The place where Dasara truly succeeds is in the makers' attention to detail. Visuals of hooch and mutton curry, displayed as hallmarks of Telangana culture feature prominently, and the presence of people with dwarfism is a depressing but pertinent detail thrown in to show the congenital issues people living amidst coal mines are susceptible to. It is a world cut from the cloth of reality, of lived experiences and memories finding their way from the script to screen. However, the film does falter a bit with some creative choices, and the discord between writing and editing. Why should a weapon have the visual of a villain superimposed upon it when the film's strength lies in its subtlety and strong emotions? What truly is the takeaway from Nani's Dasara is the voice of a potentially important filmmaker. The pre-interval action sequence and the portions involving Dharani and Vennela’s marriage are resounding proof of Srikanth Odela being the real deal. Of course, there are places where he needs to pick up the slack, especially in the staging of the action sequences among others. But points to Srikanth for developing a core and a narrative that rises above its shortcomings and manages to create a visceral, immersive experience where the sum of the emotions elicited prove to be larger than its moving parts.

The film's first look, teaser, and trailer showed Nani in a completely different and rugged role with full mass shades increasing the interest levels among movie lovers. The film with Singareni Collieries backdrop and inspired by real-life incidents is releasing on 30 March 2023 on the auspicious occasion of Sri Rama Navami across the country in various languages. The film's OTT rights have been bagged by Netflix for a fancy sum and streaming will be on after the end of its theatrical run. Let us find out whether Nani could create a mass explosion at the Pan India level with Dasara.

Dasara's story is all about a young ruffian who spends time with his gang and how his life changes due to one incident. Dharani (Nani) from Vellampally enjoys time with his childhood friends Suri (Dheekshith Shetty), and Vennela (Keerthy Suresh). Dharani is attracted to Vennela whom he loves a lot but she has other ideas.

In between, his happy life takes a drastic turn and where this leads to how it is connected to Chinna Nambi (Shine Tom Chacko), Shivanna (Samuthirakhani), and Rajanna(Sai Kumar) form the rest of the story.

Dasara Movie: Artists Review

Nani who is known as a natural performer lived in the role. His makeover and mannerisms blow the minds of all. He showed good variations showcasing the feelings and emotions in love, action, romance and humor. He put on intense effort but one gets a feeling that Srikanth Odela failed to power Nani's character to new heights.

Keerthy Suresh also played a completely different and rustic role. She performed well and her scenes with Nani stand out. Her dialogue delivery is quite good and she played the role of a youthful, bubbly village belle quite well.

Deekshith Shetty played his role to perfection while Shine Tom Chacko played an important part. Sai Kumar, Jhansi, and Poorna got typical roles and they played accordingly. Samuthirakhani got an inconsequential role much to the surprise of all.

Dasara Movie: Technicians Review

Dasara story readied by debutante Srikanth Odela is a pure raw rustic and adrenaline-rushing one. It is full of human emotions involving friends, lovers, politicians, and society. As Srikanth Odela is the protege of Sukumar, he seems to have been inspired by his mentor. Unlike others, he chose an intense story on debut to make his mark. Srikanth Odela starts the narration by introducing various characters in the village of Vellampally. Though it takes time, he succeeded in taking viewers along with him into the story.

He showcased the incidents that happened in the lives of three friends in the small village and how they got affected due to the politics surrounding them. The entire first half is dedicated to village politics and also the proceedings in the lives of Dharani, Suri, and Vennela but viewers will be in for a shock with the unexpected interval bang. This takes the film to another level increasing expectations for the second half.

But the second half goes on a predictable note highlighting the proceedings between Dharani and Vennela. The pace dips down considerably and after the predictable proceedings, the film comes to an end with the climax which comes with a twist. Srikanth Odela's story is interesting but except for a few twists here and there, his screenplay has more troughs than crests. Few emotional scenes excite but the moment one expects a high ride, they will be in for a downside. The characterization of the antagonist did not make a powerful and intense mark and Shine Thomas did not suite the role. This unevenness in the screenplay, affected the direction and narration.

Dialogues are quite effective and made an impact. Here are few of the dialogues. "okokkaniki molthadu kinda gudaral ralthay bancheth”. “maa nayannamma thodu oka debba padda chaccipotha rendo debba padithe pani sutha ledhu”. “taagi marchipovudu thappu kaadhu.. thappu chesi marichipovudu thappu”.

“etlaithe gatlane chusukundham, padi talakayalu unnode okka thalakaya unnodi chethilo kukka chavu chacchindu, puranalaku minchina bathukula manavi”.

Santosh Narayanan's music for the songs highlighted the Telangana beats. The songs are situational and well shot. Batukamma song 'chittu chittula gumma' is well shot. Dhoom Dhaam Dostaan,Ori Vaari,Oh Ammalaalo are perfectly placed and appealed to all. However, the chartbuster Chamkeela Angelesi looked forced and it did not set the screens on fire.  Santosh Narayanan made a huge impact with his background music which took the film to another level. The cinematography of Sathyan Sooryan is good and realistic. They showed the Singareni collieries in a captivating manner. The night visuals and the rustic atmosphere is not in perfect way. The cinematography beautified the film. But the graphics are not up to the mark, especially during the introduction train robbery sequence. The editing of Naveen Nooli is ok but could have been better at times as the film slowed down a bit due to a few drags. Stunts are choreographed in an impactful manner, especially in the interval and the climax. Production values of Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas are good.

Altogether, Dasara is a rustic action film starring Nani under Srikanth Odela's direction shows Nani in a completely different role. Nani's mass moves drive all his fans and even the masses crazy. Srikanth Odela emerged successful in showing Nani differently and this helped Nani increase his following among the masses. Srikanth Odela on debut did a good job. However, had he finetuned the script and moulded his screenplay to elevate Nani's heroism even more, Dasara would have made a powerful explosion. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 3 Rating for Dasara .

Dasara Movie Review – Raw, Rustic And Nani’s Rampage

Natural Star Nani is coming with Dasara in a new rugged look in a raw and rustic backdrop. In the direction of newcomer Srikanth Odela, the talented actor seemed very confident in the output. The trailer raised curiosity all over. The movie was released in theaters today and here is the review from the US premieres.

What Is It About?

A village in coalmine backdrop, Veerlapalli is in the clutch of politics and alcohol addiction of villagers. Dharani (Nani) and Suri (Deekshith Shetty) are childhood friends. Dharani falls in love with Vennela (Keerthy Suresh), but she loves Suri. The focus shifts toward Dharani and Suri after the politics between big heads involve them coincidentally. Dharani gets a shock of his life amid many twists. What happened to him and how does he fight back? This forms the story of Dasara.

Performances

Nani is one gem of an actor and proved it umpteen times. In Dasara, Nani reinvented himself and we see only Dharani from beginning to end. Undoubtedly Dasara remains Nani’s best performance so far. From the accent and appearance to emotional scenes and action sequences, Nani excelled in each and every frame. There are many highlight scenes of Nani where he snatches the show with his onscreen brilliance. Keerthy Suresh’s acting prowess could be seen alongside the scenes with Nani. Deekshith Shetty gives an on-par show with Nani and his terrific presence makes quite an impression. The leading trio’s performances are that pushes Dasara to the next level.

In other actors, Sai Kumar and Samthurakani get very limited roles and they did fine. The friends’ gang of Dharani is good. Shine Tom Chacko looked ordinary and could have been more vivid and striking.

Technicalities

We have seen many films with rustic backgrounds and raw characters. Dasara is not just one of them but also a technically remarkable and superior one. The cinematography is top-notch. From the frames where we see the roads around the quarry to the sunset shots, the inland feel is so well maintained to level with the narrative. The dark-lit mood stays throughout the movie and that tone also sets the premise. The background music is excellent and it raises the graph during the action sequences. The screenplay is good. Chamkeela Angeelesi song is impressive in every bit.

Villain Slow narration in some parts Straightforward story

Nani did not just act so well for Dasara but also promoted it like never before. He had been telling that he instantly liked the narration and went ahead with it. Dasara is pretty much a straightforward story with fewer twists and more emotions. Nani along with Keerthy Suresh and Deekshith Shetty managed to keep it high with their exceptional performances.

The first half of the movie builds the premise with more of the friendship between Nani and Dharani. The pace falls down most of the time in the first half until the pre-interval. The story keeps moving but there are places where it gives the dragged feel. The pre-interval block twist is a surprise and that particular shot is sure to leave an impact. The engaging graph that falls with the love failure song comes back to form with the chase and the killings before the interval. The interval block sets the right arena for the second half.

The audience in the US could have the real raw feeling intended due to the lack of censor cuts. The second half has its own lows and highs. The emotions play high most of the time than the plot twists do. A Dasara-like film from a new director is promising.

The authentic taking and captivating performances from the lead actors work well for Dasara, but the story has too many concepts to be dealt with. The concepts of friendship, caste, and political gamble later get overshadowed by love and then lust. Dasara ultimately emerges as a revenge drama though everything else could mislead the audience from guessing the plot conspiracy. The mix of one too many concepts might be thought of as adding a range of narrative possibilities, but that left the original thread a sloppy one. Dharani’s forgetfulness and courage when he gets drunk is a motif the director had been carrying from the start. The director might have wanted to address that and hence the closure on alcohol addiction.

Coming to the presentation, the director maintained the theme and setting effectively from start till the end. The dark-lit setting and the minute details like party symbols changing in Silk Smitha’s painting do not let the audience deviate from the setting. The villain character appears flat where it should be intense and powerful. While the other lead cast is performing top-notch, the villain character appears weak and inferior mostly. Only the director knows if the characterization is intentional.

The climax of Dasara is one that steals the show. It is a never-before action-packed massacre from Nani and he appears monstrous with a weapon in hand. Overall, Dasara has a common story with an emotional ride and a blend of bewitching action in parts, but it is Nani’s radiance that makes this Dasara blazing.

Dasara on Netflix Review: Nani and Santhosh Narayanan Excel In A Distracted Film

Here are some film pitches:

A coward who hides behind his macho best friend has to come of age when his best friend is unfairly murdered. Will this coward find the courage?

A young boy finds out that his best friend and the girl of the boy's dreams are in love. Will he get them together? Will he sacrifice his love? What happens when they all find out about each other’s love?

A bar in a remote village in Telangana becomes a site of contention between a Sarpanch and two young men belonging to an oppressed caste. Will the addiction to alcohol consume them as they chase the high given by power? 

Ten friends must form a motley crew of assassins to avenge the deaths of those who were unfairly killed by the powerful men in a village. This is juxtaposed against the metaphor for Dasara in which a man with ten heads was killed by one man. 

Each one of these ideas can become an outstanding film by itself but writer-director Srikanth Odela’s Dasara packs all these ideas into one film and therefore what we get is an exciting world of Veerlapalli that we know thoroughly.

We know the village has a clear demarcation of caste. We know that even in the bar, the one place where men claim to drown their sorrows and boredom, they cannot drown their differences. Like gossip, we learn that Padma who lives a few houses away from the protagonists is a widow whose husband was killed and the Sarpanch nominee might be involved. We know which grandmother loves to drink a lot. We know that coal mining is the primary livelihood and that the black soot that most would gawk at is viewed as an ornament worn with pride by the villagers. We know that the Sarpanch’s wife has a comfortable life but lives with an uncomfortable truth. We even know that the local priest is the umpire in a cricket match - take that for a metaphor about India’s villages and how caste claws into everyday life. 

This world-building exercise by Srikanth Odela is immersive and he makes us feel the spice in the boti curry. We smell the stench of the bar, but we also want a sip of the alcohol they are consuming. The coal mines look exhausting to work at but Odela makes us want to dive in and dance to doom dhaam dostaan with everyone. 

But Srikanth Odela struggles because he’s chosen a love triangle to explore this world. Dasara tells the story of Dharani who is in love with Vennela (Keerthy Suresh). But she and Dharani’s best friend Suri are in love and as a child, Dharani “sacrifises” his love. Things take a turn for the worse when a bar and an evil Sarpanch get in the way and the two men turn towards politics. 

This love triangle feels the least interesting among the many little stories in the world of Veerlapalli not just because of the similarity in its premise to Sukumar’s Aarya 2 (2009), but also because of how weakly Suri is written. He’s supposed to be the “classic” hero — stronger, braver, nobler, and amiable. And Dharani is the coward, the addict, and the man-child. So Suri’s presence should have been like that of Julius Caesar — imposing despite not being present in the scene. But sadly, his presence ends up propelling the plot and the action scenes forward rather than leave a mark.

It’s not the predictability of his fate but rather how immemorable the character is that makes the triangle least interesting. In Aarya 2 , Ajay was at least cunning - he had flavour. When he took advantage of Aarya, his presence was felt even when he wasn’t in the frame. Here the odds are so heavily tilted in favour of Dharani, the character and Nani, the star that Suri’s eventual fate never registers as a trauma but it is rather a convenient way to skip the line to reach Vennela. By setting up a weak vortex in a love triangle what we get is a straight line and this linearity in such a non-linear complex world feels cumbersome. 

Similarly, Odela wants to flex cinematic moments that leave the audience spellbound. The climatic action sequence (watch out for the one where Dharani is underneath a heap of bodies), the cycling sequence near the interval, and even the opening stretch show that this debutante has the imaginative muscles to creatively show masculinity and machismo on screen. But what about image-making in emotional sequences?

A song around a funeral seems to match a similar scenario in Rangasthalam (2018). There is a scene in which Vennela finds out an important truth and Odela chooses a bizarre straightforward approach that seems out of character for the person telling her the truth. More creativity and imagination here would have the thawing of a relationship between Vennela and Dharani seem more natural. Even when Dharani barges into the villain’s house (reminiscent of Rangasthalam ) a twist is revealed to him in the least imaginative and convenient of ways.

It is to Odela’s credit that in his debut film, more is expected of him than most could expect from filmmakers in their third or fourth films. But maybe to appreciate his strengths in world-building, which make him feel like an experienced director, his weaknesses in writing needed to be spelt out.

But where the writing falters, Nani and Santhosh Narayanan push the screenplay forward. I can’t think of the last film in which Nani was disappointing and this film proves that we might have to wait longer. Never before has machismo looked so easy on a person's shoulders. Even cheesy scenes where his face lights up at the sound of Vennela’s anklets become lovable because of him. Keerthi Suresh as Vennela, after shining so brightly in the first half, struggles to bring freshness in the second half, but that is because the writer chooses to make her passive.    

Similarly, Santhosh Narayanan seems to be at home driving home points when the frames struggle to convey the same. A poorly framed cricket match sequence leading up to a “hero shot” is saved once the rap music kicks in. Similarly, a melodramatic sequence right at the end is saved by a simple background score that reduces the general pitch of the scene. 

Srikanth Odela knows his world inside and out. The bars, the gullies, the politics, and even the best recipes for food found in Veerlapalli. But having chosen a love triangle, he falters in doing justice to all ends of the triangle. Luckily for him, Nani and Santhosh Narayanan bridge most of those gaps making Dasara an exciting film to watch, discuss, and dissect.

Natural Star Nani is gearing up for the biggest bet in his career. Directed by Srikanth Odela, Dasara is a rustic Telangana-based village drama. Keerthy Suresh played the leading lady and the music composed by Santosh Narayanan is a massive hit. Sudhakar Cherukuri’s SLV Cinemas are the producers and the film is hitting the screens today. Here is the review of Dasara:

Dasara is a rustic village story that revolves around three friends Dharani ( Nani) , Vennela ( Keerthy Suresh), and Suri ( Shetty). Set in 1995, the Crux of the story is how sarpanch Nambi (played by Shine Tom Chacko) impacts the lives of the lead trio. The film is set in the backdrop of singareni mines of Telangana.

Dasara film comes with a lot of expectations but meets them only partially. The village backdrop films are nothing new to us, but to give a different look to the film, the team has picked a Telangana village backdrop. The completely rustic setup came out well and the characters synchronized into the story effectively. Debutante direct Srikanth Odela has done decent work in many aspects but missed an opportunity to convert it into a great film. The story has its moments around the interval block and in post-interval scenes. The sarpanch Nambi thread came out well. The friendship and sacrifice thread of Dharani and Suri worked out for a while. Dharani’s decision in a crucial scene has much potential to generate emotions in the second half but the narration revolves around revenge drama only.

The superhit song ‘ Chamkhila Angeelesi’ comes at a serious juncture, very ineffective on the screen. The story is too simplified and lost its steam somewhere in middle. The climax fight appeals to the masses, but the closing scene (return of Nani) is a misfired one.

A noticeable strength of the film is the dialogue department; they are good in many scenes. Director Srikanth Odela has shown strength in making at Interval block and climax. The introduction train sequence with cheap graphics is a failed attempt. Santhosh Narayanan’s music and background score is good. Suryan’s cinematography is excellent. Capturing the shot effectively even in low-lighting scenes is good. Overall, this film scores well in the technical department.

Performances:

Nani delivers career-best performance; we cannot imagine anyone else in Dharani’s role. His Telangana diction is so perfect as well. Keerthy Suresh in de glamour role is just fine; a couple of her scenes are overaction. Dheekshith Shetty as suri a good casting. Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko plays the main villain character and he is good. Samudrakhani got an insignificant role. Saikumar’s role is minimal and so is Jhansi as Keerthy suresh’s mother.

Dasara is an average film with raw scenes and an authentic setup. Hero Nani’s outstanding natural performance, Debutante director Srikanth’s spark in some scenes, and action blocks compensate for the slow proceedings to an extent. The second half is a slow-paced one and tests patience here and there. Overall, a decent watch.

Dasara is a period-action-adventure film written and directed by debutant Srikanth Odela. It stars Nani and Keerthy Suresh. Natural star Nani has undergone a substantial makeover for his upcoming action thriller drama Dasara which released in theaters today. The film is promoted as a rooted and rustic action drama. Here’s our review of the film.

Dharani (Nani) and Suri (Dekkshit Shetty) are close friends who hail from the same village and love the same girl Vennela (Keerthy Suresh). Knowing Suri’s interest in Vennela, Dharani sacrifices his love and helps get them married. Are they happily married? How village politics between Shivanna and Rajanna (Sai Kumar)play a role in Dharani and Suri’s life forms the rest of the story

What about the on-screen performances?

Nani lived up to the hype with his performance. His act in the introduction scene, beedi scenes, and climax scenes is something to look out for.  

Keerthy Suresh performed well, especially the special mass dance sequence by her is worth mentioning. Shine Tom Chacko as chinnaNambi is excellent as one of the antagonist. Deekshith Shetty as hero’s friend did justice to his role. Other actors in the movie did their part well.

What about off-screen talents?

Srikanth Odela attempted a honest rustic rural drama, but was not able to fully convey the emotions of love and friendship in a way that will engage an audience. The raw and rustic nature of the film demand a capable and sound filmmaker. He took two different emotions but failed to do justice to either one of them, rather ended up diluting both emotions. The narrative style that he chooses is very slow and the characterization that he designed for Nani makes it to be monotonous as the movie progresses.  

The background score by Santosh Narayanan is of top-notch quality. The visuals by Sathyan Sooryan are a highlight of the film as he has delivered a grade-A job when it comes to visual composition and color grading. The dusty visuals and the rustic vibe are blended pretty well to make for a good visual experience.DOP Sathyan Sooryan’s work set the right mood for the movie as the movie carries a rustic look throughout.

Dharani sacrifices his love for his friend’s sake. Dahrani and Soori has to win a cricket tournament to get cashier post in SilkBar.

Final Report :

Dasara is a rustic rural drama that weakly engages its audience on the emotional front, despite good performances from its lead cast. The wafer thin plot and slow pacing of the film makes it not much appealing, although the background music was occasionally impressive.The director was unsuccessful in effectively conveying the friendship and love emotions.

Srikanth Odela, Jella Srinath, Arjuna Paturi and Vamsi Krishna P. have written a rather predictable story and screenplay, which may involve the audience but dont really impress them much because they move on the beaten path. The love story is not very heartwarming. In fact, there is hardly any romance. The second half gets a bit boring too, mainly because the warmth of a love story after marriage is almost missing. Overall, the presentation and performances are better than the script. Dialogues are ordinary.On the whole, Dasara is an average fare for the Hindi-speaking audience.

Dasara is an average film with raw scenes and an authentic setup. Hero Nanis outstanding natural performance, Debutante director Srikanths spark in some scenes, and action blocks compensate for the slow proceedings to an extent. Soon after nani-starrer saripodhaa sanivaaram arrived in theatres, fan reviews came out on twitter. this time, sj suryah stole the show.

2023 was a splendid year for Telugu star Nani , who gave audiences not one but two super hit films. First, he made the audiences go gaga over his unmatchable swag in Dasara . Then he left a lasting impact on fans with his heartwarming performance in Hi Nanna . Nani has now begun 2024 with a blockbuster release— Saripodhaa Sanivaaram . The vigilante action thriller film, helmed by Vivek Athreya, arrived in theatres today and received rave reviews from the first-day audience. Well, a majority of these fans have all agreed on one point— SJ Suryah is the star of the show.

In his most expensive film till date, Nani plays the role of Surya who fights against corrupt police inspector R. Dayanand portrayed by SJ Suryah. Film Review: “Saripodhaa Sanivaaram” – enough for this Saturday

"Saripodhaa Sanivaaram” is a complete entertainer. With its engaging story, strong performances, and well-executed direction, it is a film that keeps the audience hooked from start to finish. 

Hyderabad : Surya, who has anger issues, makes a promise to his mother. Inspector Dayanand is a cruel police officer who mistreats the villagers of Sokulapalem. The plot centers on what is the promise made by Surya to his mother, why Dayanand is so harsh on the villagers, how Surya ends up fighting with him, and whether the villagers will be saved from Dayanand’s cruelty.

In the first half of the film, we are introduced to Surya (Nani), along with other key characters. As a child, Surya is known for his quick temper and tendency to get into fights. His mother, concerned about his aggressive behavior, makes him promise to only fight on Saturdays. This peculiar agreement sets the stage for Surya’s character and his future conflicts.

Meanwhile, the narrative shifts to Inspector Dayanand (S.J. Suryah), a brutal police officer with a personal vendetta. Dayanand takes out his frustrations on the villagers of Sokulapalem, abusing his power and making their lives miserable. His agony with MLA Kurmanand (Murali Sharma) clearly affects the fate of Sokulapalem.

As the story unfolds, Surya finds himself entangled in a confrontation with Inspector Dayanand. The film’s first half builds up to this moment, raising questions about the relationship between Dayanand and Kurmanand, and what drives Surya into a direct clash with the ruthless inspector. This intense setup paves the way for the unfolding drama and action and ends with a powerful interval bang that keeps the audience eagerly anticipating the second half.

In the second half, the film takes a more intense turn as Surya steps up his fight against Inspector Dayanand. Surya tries to expose Dayanand’s true intentions to MLA Kurmanand, revealing the deep-seated reasons behind Dayanand’s cruelty. The second half is filled with suspense, as the audience wonders if Surya will be able to succeed in his mission and if the villagers will finally be free from Dayanand’s oppression.

The second half also mixes in elements of comedy and emotional moments, providing a good balance and making the story more entertaining. The fight scenes are exciting and keep the audience on the edge of their seats, while the emotional scenes add depth to the characters and their relationships.

The cast of “Saripodhaa Sanivaaram” does a fantastic job in their respective roles. Nani shines as Surya, bringing both intensity and vulnerability to his character. His performance as a young man struggling with his anger but determined to do the right thing is convincing and engaging. S.J. Suryah delivers a strong performance as the villainous Inspector Dayanand, making the audience truly dislike his character.

The supporting cast, including Priyanka Mohan, Sai Kumar, Shivaji Raja, Murali Sharma, and Ajay, also do a good job, adding depth and authenticity to the story. Each actor brings something unique to their role, making the film more enjoyable.

Music director, Jakes Bejoy, renowned for his work on King of Kotha, has delivered a chart-topping soundtrack and flawless background scores that enhance the film’s impact.

Nani’s latest action drama, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, produced by DVV Danayya, is now out in theatres. First Look And Title Of Actor Sharwanand’s Next To Release Soon

The film’s makers have, from time to time, dropped updates regarding the progress of the project.

Actor Sharwanand desperately needs a hit film to his credit. His last superhit film, Run Raja Run was a decade ago in 2014. Although he appeared in a few successful films like Express Raja and Mahanubhavudu, he has not been able to replicate the massive success of Run Raja Run. Then he suffered a series of flops which dented his career, which was revived slightly with the success of Oke Oka Jeevitham. Another setback to his career was when a political thriller directed by Chaitanya Krishna was shelved, only to be later revived with Vishwak Sen instead of him as the lead. On March 6, Sharwanand celebrated the launches of his 36th and 37th films with directors Abhilash Reddy Kankara and Ram Abbaraju, known for Loser and Samajavaragamana, respectively.

The announcements coincided with the birth of his daughter, Leela Devi Myneni. His 37th film, tentatively titled Sharwa 37, is currently in its filming phase. The makers have, from time to time, dropped updates regarding the progress of the project, like welcoming Sakshi Vaidya on board the project with a social media post. Now, the makers have released a short video, wishing fans a Happy Janmashtami.

Not only did the team wish fans a Happy Janmashtami, but the post also stated that the first look and title of the film would be revealed soon. Fans have been left excited by this piece of information and it remains to be seen if the excitement manifests into box office success. Director Ram Abbaraju is also responsible for the film’s screenplay. Bhanu Bogavarapu and Nandu Savirigana have written the story and dialogues. The music for the film is composed by Vishal Chandra Shekar, with cinematography handled by Gnana Shekhar VS. The art direction is by Brahma Kadali.

Sharwanand recently expressed his opinion on the Arshad Warsi-Prabhas row, where the former had compared the latter to a ‘joker’ in Kalki 2898 AD. He had tweeted that an actor should never criticise another actor, calling it basic ethics.
